Park Of Monte Subasio in Assisi

Mount Subasio is part of the Umbria-Marche Apennines, is 1,290 m high s.l.m. and it is located in Umbria, in the province of Perugia. On its western slopes rise the cities of Assisi and Spello; east is included in the territory of Nocera Umbra and Valtopina, north extends to the territory of Gualdo Tadino and south to Foligno.
In the area of ​​Assisi, 791 meters above sea level is located the Hermitage prison, monastery of caves where St. Francis used to take refuge in meditation with his companions.

From the cycling point of view, the ascent to the top of the Subasio from Assisi with gradients and important features; starting from Santa Maria degli Angeli are in fact at least 14 km of the road for about 1000 m in altitude.
At the beginning there is a short stretch of 5% to arrive at Assisi, then the stretch between Assisi (after Porta dei Cappuccini), and the Hermitage is the toughest, with slopes of about 10% with peaks that touch the 15%. After the Hermitage, the road climbs interspersed with long bends and slopes are gentler and regular, but nevertheless remained important. Above 1,000 meters, the road begins to level (even with a short downhill section), and a final stretch pedaled to the summit (1,290 m) altitude.
